collage19 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Does anybody know the PhD communication programs that have a strong thrust towards tech and feminism?
ProfLorax Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 University of Maryland! I'm in the English Department, but I have taken courses in the Comm Department. You can get a minor certificate in Women and Gender Studies, and we have MITH (Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities).
collage19 Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 Thanks a lot! Do I have to apply in the English Department then?
ProfLorax Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Nope, they have a Communications Department: http://www.comm.umd.edu/graduate/overview
biisis Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 McGill's AHCS is a good pick. NYU's MCC is also quite nice! It's really just a question of finding a rad prof, I think, rather than jumping through the hoops of a feminist/womens' studies supplementary degree option.
lyrehc Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 You can focus on technology and feminism most places. It's probably better to either find a specific faculty member you want to work with OR find a program that has a really good methodological approach for you that will support your research.
