dranzer_kai Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Hi, I read that ETS would send GRE essay responses to the institutions for the scores reported after 1st July 2014. Does that mean my complete essay (I screwed up the essay during the exam) will be made available to the score recipients? I am completely screwed up because I thought my SOP and TOEFL scores (27/30 in the Writing section) would compensate for my poor AWA score (3.0/6.0) and spent so much time on writing a good SOP, and it looks like there is no point, as the department is not going to believe me after seeing my AWA essay. Thanks dranzer_kai
grad_wannabe Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 If you're going into engineering, no one will care what your AWA score is. Verbal, maybe, Quant, absolutely.
Gvh Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Yeah, it seems very few fields care about the AWA score. Perhaps journalism or fields based in critical writing, but otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much.
Meglet Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I doubt most adcomms will bother to look at your GRE essays - they'll probably just look at the materials THEY asked for, not the extra stuff ETS makes available to them. Don't we always hear about how little time they have to read our stuff? I don't think it will make any difference to your application.
