it is down for 30 minutes...

I guess the question is, was it down just before admissions decisions were sent out in previous years? That's what I'd like to know...

Oh god... no idea.

I'm secretly hoping that maintenance means uploading results. Oh but let's just not get paranoid, eh?!

For what it's worth, my application page still says "Submitted," so I'd expect that y'all will hear via email before you see any system-wide application updates. That said, I hope you hear soon!!! My email also said "Berkeley English Admission" right in the title, so they - very compassionately, I think - don't beat around the bush. :)

Thanks for this! In that case, I'll stop obsessively checking the website hoping that the email will come after the website update (if it comes, that is).

I just want to hear already-- rejected or accepted, no more waiting. Berkeley is my top choice, so it's making me anxious.

Oh, and congratulations again on getting in! That's so amazing.

Inbox completely silent. No website updates. Hoping for some news as it's the first Monday of February where I'm at! (I can wait the extra hours for it to turn Monday morning in the US LOL)

I booked an appointment at my salon this morning to take care of my hair (obvs) but also to kill time. Then it's off to checking out a new yoga studio before returning to clean the apartment and cook! Learning the hard way that cleaning the mess I made during the application process is a long and hard one, especially since I left for vacation almost immediately after I submitted all of my applications.

I have no holiday excuse for why my room still looks like it's been bombed... but at least I've started to eat regular food again -most of the time.

I also went to the Harry Potter Studio Tour today and I think it helped me to only think about admission worries every ten minutes -and I also didn't check my email once while I was there. I'd like to think that I have totally mastered my frazzled nerves but judging from the amount of times my email and gc have been checked since I left the exhibition I think I still have a long way to go before I can take any of this in stride.

Trust me it was super difficult to motivate myself to pull it together, especially after the Michigan interview. BUT I told myself I want to look and feel my best to face whatever that may be in store this month...

Don't most comp lit programs historically start notifying right at the beginning of Feb? That means this is a big week for all of us under the English umbrella!

That's sounds lovely. I've been having the opposite experience- I work at a magazine and we go to press this week, so I've been at the office till 2 AM several nights in a row (yes, that includes Saturday and Sunday). It's kind of torturous, but I suppose it's a good way to kill time?

So we have the first Michigan acceptance, congrats!!! Anyone want to claim it? Also applied and still no news. I'm all nerves now...

Is that generally for the department of the whole graduate school? I am suddenly having terrible anxieties that no adcoms actually read my application.  All of my statuses only say "submitted," and I haven't received any notifications except from financial services (fee waivers) and a note about my app being received by Stanford. I think I'm starting to crack.

Generally each department will have a DGS, a faculty member charged with administering their graduate program--including admissions. Their information is usually on the page about the department's graduate program, or can be found through the departmental faculty directory.

unræd is correct - each department will have its own DGS, so don't worry. :) But also - you will most likely get a letter before you see any system-wide status changes. My submission page for Berkeley still says "Submitted," and the acceptance letters were sent out Friday! I'd say - if you can avoid obsessively refreshing anything, that's best, but if you can't, email is the place to be. :P
