BioFreya Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Hi, I'm applying to Evolutionary Biology programs. My senior honors thesis is relavant but it was never published. Should I attach the actual thesis to my application? Thanks.
biisis Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 If they're looking for a writing sample, definitely.
BioFreya Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 What if they don't require a writing sample - but there is a place to upload one?
juilletmercredi Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I wouldn't send the entire thing, as if it's long, they're unlikely to read it all. Could you send an excerpt or a chapter - perhaps the introduction, or the discussion of findings with a short summary of your results in the front?
maelia8 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Does the program have a length limit for the writing sample? If it's ten pages or less, just attach your abstract and introduction. If it's in the 20-30 page range, add on your first chapter/main argument as well as portions of your conclusion. I'd go ahead and submit it, if you think it's good work that it definitely can't hurt.
