essequamvideri Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 I've read https://psychology.stanford.edu/graduate_admissions.html, but it doesn't seem to answer this question unambiguously. I know that my referees won't have their letter in by Nov. 25, but will probably have it in 1-2 weeks after that date. Some institutions explicitly say all materials need to be in by the due date, but I can't see anything answering this. Am I wasting my money if my references come in 1-2 weeks late?
peachypie Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 can you ask your letter writers to get it in by the due date? I feel like if the deadlines, assuming you gave them a little bit of lead time, its not unrealistic to ask that they submit by the deadline. If you can't get your information specifically from the website and know the situation is unavoidable then contact the admin for the program or the DGS and explain/ask about the scenario.
Applemiu Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 I think that the LOR can be a few days/ one week late even, but the SOP and the rest of the application must be submitted on time.
lewin Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I think that the LOR can be a few days/ one week late even, but the SOP and the rest of the application must be submitted on time. No kidding. People understand that, to some extent, your letter writers are outside your control. But what excuse could you possibly have for sending in a SOP two weeks late!? Even letters.... two weeks late I would start to think that the applicant had waited too long to ask their referees. This happens surprisingly often.
