clurpantz Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Hello All! I have already spoken with two professors at the same university, same program and really like both of them for potential MS advisors. Should I put them both in my SOP as listed faculty I want to work with or chose 1? I don't want to deter my chances of getting in by putting both of them and having them feel like I'm playing the fences making neither want me! What should i do????
clurpantz Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 ALSO just thought an important note to add is I have already met with both of these professors IN PERSON.
Crucial BBQ Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Yes, I would list both and indicate why both fit my bill. I would also mention that I had met with both in person and discussed what-ever that is relevant to my application.
bsharpe269 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Most fields (ecology could be different... I have no idea) want someone who fits well with the department overall, not just with one advisor. It seems like the department is just overall a great place to be and you have two potential advisors. That should definitely be an advantage! I would talk about the research of both and about how the focus of this department lines with your itnerests.
