Hi - I'm applying to the MSW program at San Francisco State University.

The essay questions all say "one page max" in the space below each question.

Is that single space or double space??   that makes a big difference.

thanks!

Call the admission

dragon_0113: Did you end up calling the admissions office and find out if its single or double space?

Hello everyone. I did 1.5 space for my statement as it didn't specify. I wanted to do double space as this shows that you can be very concise, but I didn't have enough time to keep editing, and I didn't want to cut so much out of my essay.

Last year, I did single space and didn't get in, but I am sure there are other reasons for that, like not enough work experience.... As well as 800 other applicants for 25 spaces! lol, it's a long shot.

Good luck to everyone!

I applied to SFSU last year with a single spaced personal statement -- and got admitted. Ultimately, I turned it down and am now attending an MSW program at Boston University. Good luck!!

Also, I received my letter of admission from SFSU in APRIL - which is pretty late compared to other programs. Most other MSW programs will get back to you by February or so and because of scholarships and other students on the waitlist, these programs will rarely give you an opportunity to extend your decision. Just something to think be aware of.
