katiegud Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Turned in my first 10,000 words to my supervisors yesterday. Now I don't feel like writing more in case they hate it and tell me to rewrite everything. It's the first piece of writing they've actually read from me, so I have no idea what to expect. I guess I should probably read, but instead I'm just frozen in waiting-for-feedback mode. How's everyone else doing?
biisis Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Sounds like you've hit an excellent landmark and deserve a little break! Could you take the day off? Celebrate with a little self care? I think your reaction is pretty normal; I've been there myself. Feedback may take a while to come back to you, so the key thing is to feel pleased for having got this far, take your mind off it, and then head back to the pile of reading/marking/research that we always have in the wings.
fuzzylogician Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I usually try to turn to another project after I send off text for someone to read, so I don't have to think about it for a bit. It helps me come back with a fresher mind once I do hear back from whoever is reading the text and as you say, sometimes it doesn't make sense to go on before you hear back. Is there something else you can do right now other than this work? If you can, it may be a good time to just take a short break from research and enjoy this accomplishment.
ProfLorax Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 NETFLIX MARATHON.* *not what I'm doing today, but what I love to do when I've finished a big project. What can I say? I live for excitement. Danger. Intrigue. biisis, Chianti, music and 1 other 4
