Larson Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 What is the reputation of NYU Steinardt within education? I am assuming it's not as good as TC Columbia, Penn, Harvard, Stanford, and Vanderbilt. I am wondering about what schools of education (which are still known very respected schools) that are a rung below these top schools. I understand John Hopkins, University of Virginia, and USC have limited education programs, and that University of Michigan is a top ranked school with many programs. Any others to consider? I am looking at both masters and Ed.D programs. My GRE scores are not very impressive, which is why I am looking to apply to schools a rung lower than the top education schools. In fact, it appears that a GRE is not even required for the program I am looking into at NYU. Any chance of getting lucky with another good school with no GRE required? In any event, if there are good schools with education programs that I have not listed, I would really appreciate if you provide me with names. Thanks!
StenoLubr Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Check out US news ranking for education graduate school. I can think of University of Wisconsin, U Washington, Boston College, U Texas Austin, and UIUC. I think they are all ranked within top 10 or 20.
Eternal Icicle Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I think it's really difficult to predict your chance of admission based on their reputations. For example, I got accepted to Harvard and Vanderbilt, but waitlisted to NYU. My advice is to ask administrators at your school for their opinions and suggestions regarding respected schools.
