byakkoshe Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I'm an undergraduate student living outside the U.S. and I'm interested in using drone technology in rural area. I want to ask university professors about research topics that I'll do for applying for a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering. How could I contact a professor that is doing a research that I'm interested?
Cpoco Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 You don't usually do research in a Master program.
rising_star Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Cpoco, it depends on the master's program. Mine required research and writing a master's thesis based on original research I did. It's true that research is less of a focus in a master's program but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen at all. byakkoshe, check the threads on "Contacting a POI" for information on how to write to professors. Basically, you'll want to look for someone that's already doing research with drones and contact them about their current and future research plans. You'll also want to ask them if they're willing to supervise a master's student and if they have funding available to support you as a research assistant. Good luck!
