msgrad2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Does anyone know when Bowling Green State University starts sending out letters? I am applying for the Ph.D in Rhetoric and Writing, but would like to know when/if anyone applying to any department has heard anything. I know it's only January, but maybe those of us applying to BGSU can keep updating each other through this thread. Thanks to everyone and good luck!
grad_wannabe Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 http://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=Bowling+Green+Rhetoric+and+Writing Looks like you'll have to wait til mid-to-late February.

Thanks for this thread - I applied to BGSU for a PhD in psychology and was wondering the same thing! I would look through the gradcafe results from past years to get a sense of when BGSU has sent out admission offers/interviews in the past. Like grad_wannabe said this looks like late Feb-mid March for you. So my best guess is you could start seeing responses from the program shortly before/after 2/31/15. For example for my program, BGSU sent out interview invites from 1/15-1/18 the past couple of years. I have yet to see anything from them on the results page and I haven't heard anything personally, but because of these dates I'm thinking I should expect responses from them before 1/31/15. Not sure if this helps since our programs are different but hopefully it puts your mind a little at ease. Good luck!
msgrad2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 Thanks Alias. I'm sorry if I seem a bit behind on the BGSU system, but where did you access the results page. Thus far the only thing I can view is the graduate admissions page verifying that I paid my fees. I did get an email stating that they received all of my materials and would let me know if they needed anything else. I look forward to hearing back from you on this as there may be something online I'm just not seeing. Also, are you located near Bowling Green? Thanks.

Sorry I didn't specify what results website I was talking about. I meant the results webpage on gradcafe. It is a giant online database where people can submit entries that detail when they received results from their programs (acceptance/denial/interviews, etc). Just go to the link below and type in the title of the program and school you want to look up results for in the search bar. Or alternatively you can follow the link provided by grad_wannabe above, since I think the link they provided already narrowed the search in the database down to rhetoric and writing programs. I believe this has results from 2011 to present that have been submitted. I know it probably isn't 100% accurate because it doesn't come from the school directly, but it at least can give you some idea about what to expect! As far as the actual BGSU app website...I can only see the same info as you. I am from MI, so a couple hours from Bowling Green. Are you in the area? Hope this helps! http://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/
HistoryGypsy Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I asked about it when I finished my application (American Studies), and they said it would be early to mid March for this program (although it seems on Grad Cafe that they have been earlier in previous years). Although I initially was thinking of BGSU as a safety school of sorts, I actually think I really could be happy going there, based on how friendly/helpful the department has been.
nightfarmer Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Two years ago my letter for dual history/german came by this time, FYI. Different program, different year, different people, etc. Don't overthink it.
msgrad2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 Thanks for the update. Hopefully we can keep this going as I have heard that BGSU does sometimes give notices late in the game. I applied for the Ph.D in Rhetoric and Writing some time ago but noticed that mid-February was about the time people started posting on Grad Cafe. Still, some programs from BGSU have already started giving out interviews dates. BGSU also seemed pretty friendly and down to earth when talking to me. The staff was very helpful with my application questions. I guess it's a matter of how many people apply and what the admissions board is looking for. My hope is that they will appreciate some diversification in terms of educational background and culture. Keep me posted on what you hear and I will do the same. BTW-A BGSU student informed me that grads can check their admission status on the undergraduate admissions status page. I confirmed that this does indeed work for grads, but it only says that my application is under review at the moment.
msgrad2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Update- Looks like BGSU Psychology department admissions is kicking off now.
msgrad2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 UPDATE: BGSU has started notifying Kinesiology applicants!
msgrad2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 UPDATE-Philosophy and Media program admissions are now being sent out! Keep an eye out all prospective BGSU applicants.
msgrad2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 Update-Communications applicants are starting to get notified (2/14). Hopefully another round of acceptances will come next week. P.S- Has anyone applied within the English Department? If so, I'd be most thankful for an update to your status.
