LookingForLangston Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I heard back from the department this past weekend. And yes! It does seem like a big possibility we'll be in a cohort together! What's your research interests?

Ink330 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I went to Wesleyan. African American Studies and Sociology major.
Ink330 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Rejected at UMich! I'm actually feeling great because the waiting has been treacherous. It wasn't the best fit so I'm surprised.
curlsndegrees Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 Sorry to hear that Ink330. I did my undergrad in Gender and Women's Studies at UMBC.
LookingForLangston Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) I was Michigan rejected too!! haha glad the waiting is over! Anybody hear any news from anywhere else? I have an interview with UPenn on Friday. Edited February 12, 2015 by LookingForLangston
Ink330 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Rejected at Berkeley :-/ This one sucks a little. And I'm assuming I didn't get Penn because they told me decisions will be made in the next two weeks and I have not been invited for an interview. Still all good considering UT came through and it's a great fit.
curlsndegrees Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) I haven't heard anything from anyone. If UPenn is doing interviews, I'm assuming I didn't get in. Edited February 13, 2015 by curlsndegrees
bgt28 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I've applied to Harvard and Yale for African-American Studies, and am anxiously awaiting some news. I've been waiting for this thread for a long time While my other 6 applications are literature/language-oriented, I'm still taking Af-Am Studies to the next level.
LookingForLangston Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 What literature/language programs are you applying to bgt28? bgt28 1
bgt28 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I've applied to English at UPenn and NYU, Comparative Literature (English, French, Amharic Literatures) at Cornell, and Modern Thought and Literature at Stanford. 2 rejections out of a total of 8 schools, and no acceptances. Not feeling too hot at the moment. You?

Ink330 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I was Michigan rejected too!! haha glad the waiting is over! Anybody hear any news from anywhere else? I have an interview with UPenn on Friday. How was your interview?! I hope it went well!

bgt28 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 What literature/language programs are you applying to bgt28? Does anyone know when we should expect to hear from places like Harvard and Yale? This needs to end soon.
Ink330 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I don't think until early March unfortunately and you're so right that this needs to end. I had a dream (nightmare?) about UCSD last night Also I'm wondering when Cornell and Northwestern are going to reach out. I've sent generic e-mails to both departments about when they were going to update applicants but no reply. I did the same for Brown as well (on the same day the acceptances on the results board went up) and the response was that no information could be given out at this time.
theoristo Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 New to this thread! But I thought I'd join in on the waiting game. I applied to PhD programs in Political Science (one Combined PhD program in Poli Sci and AfAm). Interests are in political philosophy, African American political philosophy in particular, especially 19th and 20th century AfAm democratic intellectuals (Du Bois, Douglass, David Walker, Baldwin, King, etc). Hopefully this process will be over soon. The waiting stinks.
fanonfan Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Hi there, long time lurker I was actually waiting for a forum on Africana Studies to be created. I applied to 5 schools of which 3 were ivy and 2 safe choices: - Harvard U - Cornell U - Upenn (Rejected) - Temple U - VirginiaTech (Accepted)
