Hey there,

I have applied for several PhD Architecture programs for Fall 2015, mostly history and theory track. I have applied to Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, UT, UIC, UIUC, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and Penn State.

I haven't heard anything so far and I am getting very nervous!!! I just want to know at this point!

I've applied to Harvard, MIT, Columbia, Berkeley, Princeton and Yale. But after reading some of the forums here I'm not so confident anymore.

I didn't really contact any professors nor have I been asked to interview, but I didn't think it was necessary, from the websites of the schools.

Did you interview at any of the schools?

Soooo nervous!!

Yeah, that thing about contacting the professors is the same with me. I had sent emails to various prof. beforehand, few of them answered and I managed to arrange a skype interview with just one of them. The other ones that answered, especially the ones in Harvard and Princeton told me to go ahead and submit my application and they will have a look at that. And although I did not end up applying, I contacted with a professor from Columbia, she told me the same. So I suppose (or what I want to believe) it does not make that much of a difference.

About the interview thing,no I haven't received any invitations from any of the schools. I want to believe and I hope they will not have any interviews. The professor I managed to have a skype call, the one from Un. of Texas at Austin told me that they will not be having any interviews. I don't suppose all schools have interviews.

It is a relief that I haven't seen any acceptances or rejections in the results search page :). Most of  the schools sent their decisions in late february or early march last year. So more waiting for us unfortunately...

I have a some questions though... First did you apply for the history and theory tracks? If so did you sent out any portfolios? And second is about the GRE results. Mine are mediocre, you think they would give us a rest on the verbal sections for not native speakers?

Oh good!! So for architecture, I guess they don't do interviews?

It would make sense as none of the websites mention anything about that. I only skyped with one professor and it went so badly (in my opinion) that I decided not to contact anyone else after that.

I have applied for History and Theory, and only submitted a portfolio to Yale, because they required one. I sent writing samples to the rest.

My GRE results were mediocre too, especially writing, because I cannot write a dumb essay with made up examples, and I was thinking that surely a PhD committee wouldn't really rely on a meaningless test like that to evaluate applicants.

But I think, if given all the other application materials the committee was hesitant between two applicants, they would maybe refer to the GRE scores to set them apart.

I think i'm going to stop thinking about this for now and just wait!

Goodluck to you!

Hello, I applied to the Theory and History of architecture tracks also at UC Berkeley, Columbia, Princeton, Cornell, Upenn, PennState and Utexas.

Haven’t received any answers yet. I hope that we all get answers, this wait is killing us haha.

Good luck to all.

So in the results page I saw that post about UT sending a rejection letter to someone. Although the guy was rejected by a master's program I cannot stop refreshing the application page only to see the same status: "in review"...

Do you know when would they send out decisions - talking about UT Austin? I have tried to call them but nobody answers and I am reluctant to send my POI an email about that...

I have no idea, they normally say that you will receive news from them until march, but have heard that people is getting answers already. I received an email from penn state that they wont contact us until march :S

Graduate office at UT says that they will send them out on late february/early march. So let's say no news is good news and wait....

I'm an M.Arch applicant, sending good vibes your way. Results are only out for me in March, so until then I'll stay home in my sweatpants, binge-eating and wracked with anxiety...

MLA applicant here. Got what looks like a personalized confirmation from fin aid from Harvard GSD a few days ago.

For those who applied/submitted fin aid docs, did anyone else get a similar email?

I didn't get anything from Harvard yet. On the other hand I applied to PhD in Architecture via GSAS, not GSD. So I doubt the processes would be the same...

Hey gpallares81,

I have contacted ut and they have told me that they had their admission meeting and will start sending out decisions soon. Fingers crossed

I applied to one history or architecture program, at Cornell.  And I did have contact with my POI there before applying, though I have not heard anything from that person in the meantime.  According to past results, Cornell's HAUD program lets people know at the end of February/beginning of March -- what a wait!  It is the last program I am waiting to hear back from.

Good luck to everyone!!

Hey CM i applied to the same program at Cornell, and the same, was in contact with profrs during the application period but havent heard from them yet.

Hoping for the same, gpallares81!

Not sure if it is what you are talking about about, soconfusedandnervous, but UC Berkeley seems to have sent out their admissions and rejections.  At least some of them have posted yesterday and today.

Sorry for the Berkeley people!

I got an email today from UT Austin. It was the graduate coordinator of the faculty. She told me that I am accepted, however they still did not figure out the funding details. She told me that they will send official letters this week.
