  1. I hope so! haha still waiting! I wish there was a way to find out before the decisions are released!
  2. Would it be appropriate to e-mail a POI that is on the staff at a school I applied for about admissions decisions? I wrote a little about him in my statement of purpose, helped me a ton, had casual talk in the past. He's not part of the admissions committee, but he told me during an open house that he'll once in a while step in and read a few essays if prompted. Any advice/suggestions on the right question to ask?
  3. Decisions come out in 2-3 weeks. What question can I ask fin aid or admissions that the answer of would hint at an acceptance?

Do you know when I can expect to hear about results?

What would the answer be if it were to hint at an acceptance? And would emailing anyone on admissions@ be appropriate?

Also, they might just say "in early march" which wouldnt be that informative

  4. Is there any subtle way you've found out you've been admitted before admissions decisions? (i.e. financial aid access, etc.)

Hm, I was sent a flyer for "admitted students day" before I got official word from the department!

I got a ridiculously positive email from my POI.

  5. I recently logged onto the GSD financial aid site and unless my memory fails me, the language of the login instructions has changed from "For current applicants...." to "For newly admitted students: your student ID will be the email address you provided on your application for admission." I was still able to login to access my account. For those who have applied to finaid for the GSD, are you also able to access your account? Is there anyone who cant?
  6. Maybe we both implicitly got good news Good luck to your friend! Now I wonder if anyone else who submitted documents got a different message or none at all?
  7. MLA applicant here. Got what looks like a personalized confirmation from fin aid from Harvard GSD a few days ago. For those who applied/submitted fin aid docs, did anyone else get a similar email?
  8. After discussing this with a few people before, there are two reasons: 1. The email was a direct response to an email I sent them personally to submit a doc (everyone was instructed to email the fin aid office for required docs for scholarships). It couldn't have been a cc/bcc if the reply I got was a direct response to the email I sent i.e. it was part of the same thread. Which still brings me to the question: presumably if hundreds if not a few thousand people submitted documents, why reply to each of personally? Sounds really inefficient. 2. The heading of emails should specify whether your email was part of a cc/bcc.
  9. Yeah I'm probably reading too much into it. Lol though I find it hard ro believe that they would reply to so many emails personally. I assure you it wasnt an automated email. Theres ways to tell.
  10. Hi all, Applied to the Harvard GSD. Financial aid documents were due on Feb 6. Got a personal (def not a cc) e-mail from the fin aid office saying that they "will let me know if they need anything else." I'm almost certain this was just sent out of courtesy, but of course I start overthinking it. Is it usual for fin aid to personally (again NOT cc'd) email hundreds of applicants just to confirm financial aid documents are submitted? If so, why put in the time to reply to those who applied for financial aid who have not been admitted? (Not 100% positive, but admissions decisions are mostly decided in January, and they use Feb to process fin aid). Is there ANYTHING I can read into this? (i.e. can I even be plausibly optimistic from a seemingly mundane e-mail?) Applications were due Jan 5. Fin aid due Feb 6. Expecting decisions to be released the first week of March (has been this way historically). Please help my sanity.
