I was invited, but can't attend.  If you or others could report back (in a PM, if necessary) your impressions of the department after the visit, I would really appreciate it.

I will be attending. I will probably be there on 19th evening. Will post under this topic on what I thought about the department.

Same. Would love to hear about it.

Have you heard about another later day to visit?

I called the graduate chair's assistant and he told me they always hold a make up day later in the year. I want to say it's in March.

Here are my thoughts on the OSU Statistics department after attending their GID on Feb 20.

1. Lot of focus on Spatial Statistics and Statistical Learning

2. I quite liked the mix of domestic and international students in the department

3. I spoke to a couple of faculty members and they were really friendly and interested

4. They appear to have a good BioStat program and students have written thesis on many interdisciplinary topics like criminology etc.

5. The money is pretty good ~$2,100 to start with and it increases as you progress through the degree.

I quite liked the department and their focus on both classical and Bayesian statistics. The bad thing is the weather but I dont know if it is going to be a deal breaker for me.

What is the cohort size for OSU?

I didn't ask that question particularly but I think we can guesstimate. They have about ~54 PhD student across the 5 years now and there were about 20 odd students at the information day. So, the cohort size should be somewhere around 10-12 if I am not wrong.
