Your application is currently being evaluated.

Hey guys,

Last month, I checked my result form one of the famous universities in Arizona, I saw" your application is currently being evaluated". I have continued checking the result, but this sentence still exists for long time, whereas my friend has already got the acceptance from the university, but I don't. Does anyone have the same experience? Should I send email to ask anyone in the college about the result of admission or should I wait for it again?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

If the said friend applied to the same program as you did then I'd be worried. If not then I'd shoot the program coordinator an email.

If you are applying to PhD program then it is probably too late. Most PhD programs have already sent out their acceptance decision (My friends got their rejection from UC Berkeley and UPenn)

Not necessarily. The case may be that the application is being carefully reviewed along with a few others. Contacting the department is not a bad move. You may be told that a decision on your application has not yet been reached, you may have been waitlisted, or you may have been rejected.

All of these departments operate on their own schedules in their own idiosyncratic fashions; comparing what UPenn/UCB do with what Arizona does is problematic. One should not lose hope because a status has not yet changed in February. Its still early, and not receiving a rejection letter means you are still in the running.

I disagree with this. Yes, we're seeing a lot of activity now, but many departments will continue to make decisions until well into March, and continue accessing their waitlists even longer.

Yup, to echo the posts above, the PhD program I've applied to doesn't release any decisions till end of February at the earliest, probably more like mid-March.  The timeline for notifications is highly dependent on both school and field of study.
