Scottstein Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Can I assume "implied rejection" from the University of Chicago--English PhD program??
Dr. Old Bill Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Not sure this needed its own thread, really... Also not sure anyone can say definitively, I'm afraid. It's probably safe to assume so, but who knows?
>>> Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Visit weekend is this weekend. not sure how conclusive that is, though.
hypervodka Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 If you weren't invited to an interview, I think it's safe to assume an implicit rejection. Other than that, I don't know. The DGS would actually be a really great person to ask.
Scottstein Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 thanks..i knew it was a redundant thing to ask but i had a last bit of hope
perdita Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 More intel from my end: I was told I'm being moved to MA consideration (I applied for a PhD). This was on the 24th of Feb. Followed by a slew of emails why an MA from Chicago is a good idea.

Yeah, as fine an institution as this is, close to 50k for a one year MA is a pretty insane proposition. That's not to say the quality of the education is bad -- far from it, I have major respect for U of C -- but man, is that rough.
