What does this mean?

My department has sent out acceptance, rejection, and wait list emails to people here at thegradcafe.com.

 

But I have heard nothing.  I'm wondering what the likely outcome is to all this waiting.

I think you should reach out to them and ask about the status of your application.

Better yet what does it mean when you email to check in and get a personalized response from a real human (not just cut and paste bs) saying "you'll definitely get something by next week, email me directly if you don't."  Why not JUST TELL ME?!?!

I'm curios about this too. Why shouldn't they contact everyone at the same time?

Also, I received a rejection by postal mail yet the web portal is not updated yet. How is postal mail faster than clicking a button? -.-

Usually the portal is maintained by the Graduate school/office and the rejection is sent by the program.  So the program submitted the status to the Graduate school/office and mailed the letter, the Graduate school/office has not updated the portal.  This assumes your letter was not sent by the Graduate school/office.  If the Graduate school/office sent the rejection, then I don't get why they wouldn't update the portal too.

the same situation.

I saw some students got accepted and other rejected in the college i applied for but non of them in the same track I applied for.

only one student got rejected ( he applied for the same track I applied for, no accepted student ) his math  GRE score is 170( I saw my rejection here    )

i contact the college, they said to me if you did not get any email it means your application still under review .

This is quite unlike me.

For some reason I cant seem to find concrete date for my university or program on the result page and this has further fueled my paranoia as I'm in the dark about admission or rejection.

I sent a mail to my admission officer last monday and expected a reply yesterday which hasnt yet come in and that isnt helping much either.

For your own case though, my advuce is that you contact the department to know your stand..Its the only logical thing to do.

Okay, I contacted my POI who is perfect for me (his background and research interests).

Unfortunately, he said he isn't taking on any new students this year.

I wish he would have told me this before I applied.

He referred me to the head of the admissions committee regarding my application status.

Will send that email before the weekend is over.

Oh well.

I got the same response from my POI at one school after they said they were taking on someone *facepalm*.

Update.  I am courting a new POI in my department, and I still haven't been rejected.

 

I get to work in a new sub-field, and though this is not what I originally planned, I've made peace with it.
