Hii. Since quite a few of the admitted students are on gradcafe, I thought it would be a nice way for everybody to get to know each others'plans :)

I'm waitlisted at BU and accepted at UNC. For the past 6 months, I've been dreaming about Emerson but now that I've gotten in, Im confused. I think I'll end up in going to Emerson, I was absolutely in love with it. I just need to reaffirm the reasons.

You're confused between BU and Emerson right?

Did you get any funding at Emerson? I really like Emerson, too. It seems like a very supportive and friendly environment, and a good program for clinical preparation. I also hope to work with kids and they are really strong for pediatrics. I also like the location of Emerson right in downtown.

Boston U is attractive because it's a research university, and also because they have PT and OT as well as speech. I like the idea of the interdisciplinary rounds. I think I would also like the option of being involved in research and/or writing a thesis.

I just got into CU Boulder yesterday, so now that is a third option I'm considering.

I was actually really hoping to get into UNC because I see it as a mix of Emerson and BU strengths. UNC is a large research university, but they also seem to have a very supportive program and a strong pediatrics focus. They also have tons of placement options and will help you to find your placements. If you aren't able to make UNC's open house, I know they have some recordings on their website of past accepted student events which might be helpful to listen to if you need more information about them.

I've decided to go with Emerson!

Whoever decides on Emerson, this thread is ready :P

I've decided on Emerson too! I'm still waiting to hear back from my other schools but Emerson is my top choice. So unless one of the other schools offer me a ton of aid I'm going there.

Hello!! I got into Emerson and I am about 90% sure that I will be going there! I also thought that the program had a wonderful and supporting environment which is something you don't see very much in this field. The faculty are very accomplished and there is also some interesting research that is conducted at Emerson. The reason I am not 100% is because I also got into MGH and that has been my dream school for years. Sadly, it is ridiculously expensive and I don't want to walk out of grad school with 100k in student loans. Emerson gave me a scholarship so I don't think I could turn it down, plus I think it's a great program!

That sounds awesome! Shall I make a facebook group or does this work fine?

Are you guys planning to go for the open house?

Does anybody know when we need to start housing and all?

There is actually a link to an accepted students facebook page at the bottom of the acceptance page in the Emerson Admissions portal!

Wish I was able to go to the open house, but I am out of the area and unable to travel there. Booo.

From what I hear (other friends who go to University in the Boston area), the rental market in Boston is very fast, so it shouldn't take long to find housing. Finding good roommates might be the only thing to think ahead on :)

I just looked again - didn't realize that it was for all of the graduate programs. You're right!

Hi all!

Does anyone know the total cost of tuition and fees for the program? On the financial aid page, it says:

Full-time (8 credits per semester)

$9,576

$9,576

$19,152

Full-time (12 credits per semester)

$14,364

$14,364

$28,728

Per credit

$1,197

$1,197

-

So it looks like it depends how many credits/semester are taken. Does anyone know this breakdown? Then summer is charged per credit:

Description of Charge Summer 2015 Graduate per credit rate

$1,145 per credit

Registration Fee per part of term

$30 per part of term

Just kind of confused by this and trying to figure out the total cost.

Hii. Here's what I know -

It's a total 54 credit program. So assuming you're finishing it over two years, that's got to be 12 credits per semester. So that's 28,728 a year. That's 28,728 X 2 = 57456 for 48 credits

+ 6 X 1,197 = 7182

Total tuition becomes 57456+7182= 64638

Thank you! That's around what I was getting too. I just noticed they updated the tuition page to reflect next year's tuition. I think before it had 14-15 rates and I was getting 57,000 for the cost of the program. I think the cost/credit was around $1050 when I looked before. So they must have increased tuition quite a bit.

Just this morning found out I'm on the waitlist for Emerson. Literally crossing every finger and toe I have that a spot will open up because I am so in love with the program!

Well it says: "Please note that our list is not ranked, but is based on a holistic view of candidates and the class as a whole." so I guess not? haha

Oh. That sucks. Okay let's hope after the open house, all the people who don't plan to go inform them so you get in? :D

Haha I really hope so! I want to get in so bad. This has been my dream program for like 2 years

if you submit your deposit, and then end up changing your mind and attend a different program all you lose is the $200 deposit right?
