can_cal Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Hey everyone!! My name is Tim Douglas, I'm from Vancouver, BC and I've been accepted into Luskin's MURP... 95% sure I will accept. I plan on specializing in transportation policy and planning. I'm from a very dense, walkable city, so the thought of moving to LA is very daunting. It is literally the opposite of Vancouver. I don't really want to get a car, but it might be my reality. My boyfriend will be coming too, and attending a college in East Hollywood. How on earth do we decide where to live so that neither of us are overly inconvenienced? I'd love to hear from any Angelenos and UCLA Lusking (specifically MURP) students! What you plan on concentrating in... etc etc) Congrats! Tim
rojodo Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) Hi Tim! Glad you started this thread. I'm joining Luskin's social welfare program through the combined MSW/PhD track. Most my work will be focused on the prevention and intervention of schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, and critiques of cultural attitudes and medicalization of mental health. I just had an opportunity this Monday to visit for a welcome day and I'm really thrilled to be in such an interdisciplinary setting. I'm from Michigan and also can't wait to be studying outdoors year round (: Congrats to you too! -Ryan Edited March 13, 2015 by rojodo
adacot Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I will also be a Luskin student this fall in the social welfare program! I know for my program specifically, a car is almost a necessity in order to work at a field internship site. I am thinking about doing the micro track in my program
