UMass or VCU Biostatistics

Hello ~ I got this two offers for the PhD in Biostatistics and would like to ask for some advice in my decision, I am outsite USA, so Im not able to go to the campus. I'll really apriciate any advice or suggestion

Are either of the offers funded? If so, I'd go with that one. If not, my inclination would be VCU but that's because I think Richmond is a fun city with lots of cool things to do. (Keep in mind that I know absolutely nothing about your field.)

Umass gave me tuition waiver and it's possible I can get it from VCU, but there is not a assistantship at least in the first year.

Without a fellowship or an assistantship, you shouldn't go to either program.

When did Umass let you know that there would be no funding for the first year? I'm admitted for the MS Biostat program and this kind of info would be invaluable. Thanks and Good luck. Maybe even see you there next fall...

BrainDrain87: when I received the acceptance letter I wrote them and asked for funding and thats the information they gave me
I have a scholarship with another organization and I got tuition waiver and some money for maintenance with that organizacion, I do not know if that's the reason why they did not offer me more funding.
