I actually did my English MA at Auburn. It is a great program with some awesome faculty. What field are you most interested in?

In terms of housing, there are a lot of options. If you're planning on being within walking distance to campus, expect to pay around 750 or so per month. Just a bit farther north of campus (on a bus line) is Habitat apartments where you'll get much more space for less than 700 a month. If you have any specific concerns or needs regarding housing, I'm sure I can get information from someone for you. My last note on housing is AVOID Logan Square Apartments. The management is disrespectful, and the maintenance staff often refuses to do their job.

Cost of living is fairly low -- about what you'd expect from a large town/small city setting. Plenty of shopping areas in both Auburn and Opelika. A lot of great bars and restaurants. Again, if you have specific questions, feel free to ask.

Just about to graduate from here for undergrad, and I've loved my time here. College football is king here, gamedays get pretty crazy and are usually a lot of fun. The campus is very pretty and it's very much a college town. In terms of housing auburn has a bus system that goes to a number of apartment complexes. There's a lot of places with a range of prices, but avoid Tiger Lodge at all cost, multiple people have been shot there in the last couple of years.

Headed to Alabama in early August for their English program.  Anyone else starting grad life at Auburn this coming fall?

If any "veterans" are afoot, any recommendations on housing/apartments? Cost of living? etc.

Hey! i'm joining Auburn for their MS in Materials Engineering. Did you find a place to stay btw?

Decided to go to Auburn for a MS Degree in Civil Engineering... I got a GRA position, tuition waived and 1200 stipend... What can I expect living at Auburn on that budget? I come from another country... Do you have any recommendations on housing? Will I need a car to move around in Auburn?

I also have some money saved by the way but would prefer not to use it...

I went to auburn for undergrad for Civil but I'm not an international student, I'll try to answer to the best of my ability. In terms of living, there's a lot of different apartment complexes, prices vary depending on how close you are to campus, how many roommates, how nice of a place you want to live in. If you're smart an you find the right situation and spend the time searching i'm sure something around 300 a month or cheaper may be available. If your getting 1200 a semester I'm gonna say you'll be dipping into your money a little bit because leases are 12 months long and you'll have cost of living needs. For a car its not totally necessary to get to and from campus during class time as there is a bus system, but if you're looking to travel or do things you'll need one or make friends with someone who will.

Note: I might be understanding this wrong if your GRA position pays you on top of just waived tuition and stipend, in that case you'll have no problem
