Hi all!

I was recently wait listed at my top choice school. I have written a letter of intent and sent it to the director of admissions and was told it would be added to my file.

My question is to anyone who has written a letter of intent to get in off the wait list--is there anyone else that I should send it to? Has anyone ever emailed it directly to the chair of he department?

I am not sure who else I should send it to, or if I even should send it to any other people. I don't know who exactly is on the admissions committee so I wouldn't want to send it to anyone who has no say in admissions and risk bothering anyone or hurting my chances.

Also, has anyone ever written a letter and been accepted from the wait list after?

Any advice would be helpful! Also if anyone knows of anything else I could do to increase my chances that would be great. Thanks so much!

I wrote a letter and then was accepted off the wait list a few weeks later. Basically I just explained why the school was my first choice etc. and asked for them to continue to consider me.

Elmhurst College in Illinois. I sent it to the admissions contact person. I had called and spoken to her and she told me a letter would be helpful when they looked at the waiting list. I sent it to her and she forwarded it to the admissions committee.
