  1. Elmhurst College in Illinois. I sent it to the admissions contact person. I had called and spoken to her and she told me a letter would be helpful when they looked at the waiting list. I sent it to her and she forwarded it to the admissions committee.
  2. I wrote a letter and then was accepted off the wait list a few weeks later. Basically I just explained why the school was my first choice etc. and asked for them to continue to consider me.
  3. I applied to 10 schools in Indiana and Illinois. 3.7 gpa, 167 V 148 Q 4.5 W. I had no relevant experience in the field. I was accepted at 2 schools, accepted off the wait list at 2 schools, rejected by 2 schools and rejected from the wait list of 4 schools.
  4. All schools are accredited so they all meet basic standards. However, it is important to remember that doesn't mean the quality of the education is the same, only that the program meets a certain minimum standard. That being said, will going to a lower ranked school make you less likely to get a job? Probably not.
  5. You have a great story for your SOP. You will stand out from the crowd.
  6. I would agree with applying to many schools. I applied to 10 (Indiana, Illinois) I got accepted at 3, rejected at 2 and wait listed at 5. (Gpa 3.7, GRE 315 Q/V, 4.5 AW). I think your SOP is also critical.
  7. Cosmicmorgan, are you in the wait list for Elmhurst College? Their cohort is not full yet. I just turned down a wait list acceptance there. Hopefully that helps you or someone else.
  8. Study for the GRE! I think many schools use it as an initial weeding out tool. All your great experience won't help if you don't make it past the initial cut. My GPA was a 3.7, I had very little volunteer exoerience, decent LORs, and what I hope was a decent SOP. V167 Q149 W4.5. I was accepted at 2 schools wait listed at 6 and rejected at 2. I honestly think my high verbal score on the GRE is what saved me.
  9. I think schools expect that this will happen. It is part of the process.
  10. I will be declining. Hope it helps someone out
  11. Is the thesis a deal beaker for you? If it is, I think you have a good case for getting your deposit refunded.
  12. I got accepted at a top 30 school and rejected by a school ranked in the 200's!
