  1. My cousin attended the session and wasn't too impressed. Faculty did not seem as knowledgeable when it came to administrative and other matter. It's not a very organized school and placements are still being prepared. I wouldn't apply here now, but maybe once they've got things together. Let the first cohort pass. They're also pending ASHA accreditation and she didn't like that they're making you pay before the program gets approval. You don't even get a refund if the program is rejected. Plus going to a Christian school means that you have to follow some rules even if you're not Christian. The tuition is also extremely pricey and no funding either. On a different note, the surrounding area is ghetto, lots of gangs, shooting, robberies, etc. It's not a very safe place particularly for females and if you don't believe me just google Riverside. It's a poor area and there is a lack of good facilities for placement.
  2. Does anyone know if you can work as an SLPA after getting the USU degree?
  3. I agree! We can't wait forever and put our entire lives on hold just waiting for that acceptance. It's not fair to applicants to keep them waiting that long.
  4. @ead5457 @Alyspeechie are your stats on the lower side?
  5. @Schatzie15 is a car necessary in Dallas? My cousin drove there last year and said it was a nightmare and the road rage just made everything worse. She even said that some of her classmates told her not to mess with drivers in Dallas because of the greater likelihood of ending up being shot.
  6. @BamaBelle are you waiting on the University of Alabama too?
  7. At this point in the game, if we haven't heard from a school is right to assume that we're unofficially waitlisted and will hear after the 15th?
  8. Thanks everybody for the advice. In response to the above I'm originally from WA but moved to NY state for college. I forgot to mention a school in Arizona was in the choices too. I visited AZ last June...almost passed out with the heat. I've never sweated that much in my entire life. I just wasn't feeling well, swollen hands and overall fatigue with the heat (I was hydrated mind you). I hope TX is not that bad?
  9. So, I got accepted to some schools that are all over the country. One being in California, one in a North Texas suburb, one in Northern Michigan, and the other in Boston. Some of the less desirable locations have great programs, but I'm the kind of person that's psychologically affected by weather and landscape. I'm just stuck on making a decision because of this. Can anyone provide some advice?
  10. I was thinking about that when I got accepted to a school in an east-coast suburb. I thought, "What am I going to do when it's freezing for 6 months?" But I guess we'll be so busy with class and clinic that we'll hardly have time to enjoy the outdoor stuff. At least Dallas weather is pleasant compared to the midwest and east coast.
  11. @OverCaffeinated I see your waitlisted at NYU. I haven't heard from them. Did they tell you what rank on the waitlist you were?
  12. I'm just a little hesitant since it hasn't been accredited yet. I've also never went to a private/Christian college though I am Christian. Can anyone provide some input?
  13. @twinguy7 is the paperwork process of working in a different state than where you went to grad school difficult? I think I'll most likely take that option of moving back to my home state, but I'm just worried about not getting preference for jobs in other states because I didn't have placements in that state.
  14. @Kanga and whoever else can answer this: do you know if students are permitted to complete their placements out-of-state? I think I heard it was true but i just want to make sure.
  15. @Kanga how was the weather while you were there?
