themittn Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I am beginning my master's thesis this fall and wondering if anyone had tips and what type of things I should be sure to bring when conducting interviews (paper and pencil, check). Was hoping to get an decent but inexpensive digital voice recorder so any suggestions on that would be helpful. Was there anything you wish you would have known or done differently when researching?
rising_star Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Bring water to drink. Try not to do the interview in a place with a lot of background noise. Listen to your early interviews before doing more so you can get a sense of what you sound like to the interviewee (also, this tends to lead to talking less and letting the person you're interviewing talk more). I've used Sony IC recorders in the past but am in the market for something different. I'm curious to know what others use. Nerd_For_Life and Komugi 2
KathleenLivesay Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I don’t know if I’m too late to advise. But when conducting an interview, you should know what are the proper things to do – asking a good question is a must- do your research. Be as simple as you are, with your pencil, recording device, proper outfit where you are most comfortable with ^^ Hope this helps.
