Toothybear
Hello all, I would appreciate your insight into this I applied for a change of status in USA but since processing times were more than 3 months I decided to go back to my home country for visa stamping. My university agreed to defer my program by a month. However, in the I20 they have given me, they have mentioned the old program start date. I booked my student visa interview and it falls after my program start date. I have no documents to show the VO that my program start date has been deferred. My DSO says its not a problem and that I can enter the US anytime within 30 days of the start date of my program but I am worried that my visa itself might get rejected due to attending the interview at a date which is after the program start date(old) has anyone ever been in this situation. jujubea
You do get a 30-day window. Is your interview within 30 days of the start date? Also, who at your university agreed to defer your program? I would try to at least get a letter or even an email from them - just something - that shows the new start date. Otherwise, you may be 221g'd for a new/updated I-20. Good luck.
