Tahlain Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Just took the GRE and I got 168 on verbal and 166 on quant. Will these be competitive enough for top psychology programs? I prepped with Magoosh and was thinking about using Manhattan/Empower too, but then got the scores. Do you think it's worth retaking, or would my time be better spent working on other things?
GREMasterEMPOWERRichC Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Hi Tahlain, A Q166/V168 is a fantastic overall score combo. When it comes to individual Programs, you can do some research to learn more about incoming class 'profiles', average/median GRE scores, etc. so you can get a better sense about how competitive your score is. Do you know which Schools you're planning to apply to? GRE Masters aren't born, they're made, Rich

I'd check with each of your programs, but I think overall you have nothing to worry about. From the programs I've looked at, 80th percentile is ideal (of course, most programs refrain from hard cutoff points) so you should be more than fine!
