philstudent1991 Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Does anyone have any insight on what programs pay to fly out admitted applicants? If anyone can offer something like "I attend university X and university X funded my fly out", that would be very helpful. Or, for example, WUSTL says on their website that they will cover travel fees. Evidence of this kind would be helpful too. Thanks!
rising_star Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Not in your field but, I just want to say that there are programs that will cover most or all of the travel expenses for their top admits but not for others who have been admitted with funding. Sometimes people get flown out because they were nominated for a university-wide fellowship and the funding comes from that, rather than the department. I say all of this because I got flown out to departments that don't typically do that because of the university-wide fellowship factor. And I also say it because I don't think that this should be a deciding factor in where you apply. MathCat 1

UConn didn't offer, but I was just a short drive away. I know people personally who have been flown out to UCSD and Indiana. philstudent1991 1
NathanKellen Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 UConn does not fund travel, sorry to say. State school woes! philstudent1991 1
