Sneechles Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 So I know the two schools I have yet to hear from (either yay or nay) have already contacted people for their interview date. What does this mean?? Do I completely discount them or is there still a chance? If there is still a chance, is it a significant chance or really no chance at all? Help relieve me of my stress!
Hydrogenglow Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 This usually means that, generally, it's not good, but not terrible. They invite people that they want, and those people will probably by admitted. But, they keep an additional list of people they'd want. So, come April 15th if they didn't get as many people as they wanted, they'd invite you, even if you didn't go to the interview weekend. So, basically, you're not on the top of the list, but you still have a chance (probably not a GREAT chance, but still a chance). That's what I've been told by professors.
FastForward Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 I might find some peace trying to reinvigorate this old threat  Is there anyone out there who HAS NOT been invited to an interview but still got accepted from a top tier program ??? If so, did you hear back in March ? April ? Late April ?
aggie-hater Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 FYI to all...you may or may not know this... A post-doc just told me April 15th is the APA deadline to accept new graduate students... I didn't know there was such a thing...or that the APA had anything to do with it! The Aggie-Hater
FastForward Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Thanks Aggie.. I hope that's for PhD only, because I plan to do some serious schmoozing for masters if I get rejected from all my phd schools
FastForward Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I marked "NO" for masters at NYU.. Any real life incidences where somebody turns that into a "yes, please do consider me for an MA" after being rejected for the phD ?
FastForward Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 In case this topic is saved for future generations: Q: what happens if you hear nothing ? A: Past March 15, it's usually bad. Those accepted or waitlisted hear something by that time.
rising_star Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I'm not in psych but I was emailed an acceptance last week.
perkinqq Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 There's also a huge possibility you could be waitlisted. I recently called an institution (for social psych) inquiring about my admissions status and found that out
