GRE and Sending Scores to Schools

Hi all,

Is it mandatory to mention which schools (and departments?) one would like to send the scores to at the time of writing the GRE? Is it possible for one to write the GRE, come home, and send that information about schools (the four free schools I believe) later on? Additionally, do you pick "schools" or do you pick departments?

You only get the sends for free if you choose them immediately after you've finished your test at the testing centre. If you want to send the scores anywhere after you've returned from the test, you'll need to pay the sending fee.

You choose departments, not just schools, e.g. I picked "PRINCETON" from the "school" list, then "PHILOSOPHY" from the "department" list, and had that as one of my free sends.
