shanshan Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Hi! This is my very first post (hi, mom!) I'm a couple years out of school and aside from one very lucky gig at a museum, I've mostly been a slave to waiting tables and buying last minute plane tickets (my resume is, ahem, lacking). Being the ripe old age of 25, I'm planning on applying directly to PhD programs. Presumably these will be more difficult to get into without an MA. I'm having a hard time finding an MA program/location that appeals to me. I'd be very happy to get my MA abroad, perhaps master my miserable french or german skills while away. Finding these programs turns out is not so easy. Does anyone know of any they can recommend. Or any helpful cites?

Germany though, I hear, is free!! which would be less expensive than the UK. I think Heidelberg (is that how you spell it?) has some classes in English. But perhaps maybe all German universities do? If you want to go to France, you'd have to spend a year just doing language before going into a program. I'm not sure where to find info about that though...

I believe that Heidleberg requires a pretty strong background in French or German. or both. But certainly worth looking into. (oh yes, i mean those websites...not those webcites)
