I was checking my bank statement online and noticed ETS charged me $150 and not $140 for the GRE I took on Wednesday. So I went to their website, and sure enough, the price went up! What the crap! I don't know when this change took place, but I was unaware of it. I took the test the first time at the end of August and it was $140 then. Also, when I called the testing center to schedule an appointment almost two weeks ago, they told me it would be $140. I realize that it is only a $10 difference but it really gets on my nerves. The stupid GRE is just one big scam!!!

cost £110 in london

plus a return flight from my city to the capital.

Is that the same as U.S. $110? I'm thinking it's different but I really don't know much about different currencies; I'm assuming that's more than U.S. $110. Did you have to fly to take the test? If so, that really does suck! I had to drive an hour and a half.

I'm so glad I'm done taking the GRE, ETS is out to make money any way they can.

AMEN! They are out to make money any way they can...totally agree 100%! I'm not sure if I'm through taking the test or not, I haven't decided yet...but if I do take it again, the price better not change!

I had to pay $180 to take it in London. I was charged in dollars, not pounds, but in any case £110 is worth quite a bit more than $110! The Powerprep software they said would arrive 2 weeks after my booking did not arrive until after I had taken the test, over a month later. And I have been waiting almost a month for my scores to arrive. So as an international, I paid more for worse service! Gotta love ETS. Oh well, at least I didn't have to take an experimental section in my test.

Yep, price up again since August 2009. I just paid £180 to retake the damn GRE on the 12th; plus £60 return flight to London. I never received the powerprep software. In fact, I didn't know there was such thing until I bombed my first GRE....

JerryLandis: I didn't see an experimental section either. Is it because we're in London?
