Clinical2017 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Hi everyone! I might be starting a bit early (I'm applying to clinical psychology PhD programs for entry in fall 2017), but wondering if you have any suggestions for faculty in clinical psychology PhD programs who study body image? I'm not really interested in eating disorder research, but more so on body image, itself. Thanks!
FacelessMage Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I know Kristin von Ranson at the University of Calgary sometimes does body image (collaborates with Shelley Russell-Mayhew in the Counselling Department), even though the bulk of her research does focus on ED. I know some past students have focused exclusively on body image research.
mylifeinshambles Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 This is some general advice on picking PIs based on research interest: Start with a recently published paper on the topic you're interested in. Look at who cites it, who they've cited. This is one of the easier ways to see who's currently doing this line of work. Check out their lab pages, check their google scholar page. artsy16 and VentureIntoNothingness 2
FoShizzle Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 One of my mentors studied body image at USF, you might browse their site.
jzp406 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Check out work done by Renee Engeln (Northwestern University), Anna Bardone-Cone (UNC), and Janet Hyde (University of Wisconsin).
