NervousNellie
Sounds like there is some variation. Anyone else want to chime in to break the tie LOL?
Febronia
Well, this won't break the tie for you, but all of the professors I have had in both undergrad and grad school have said that they don't care which style we use as long as we pick one and use it consistently. (Definitely no combining styles in the same paper! Which I know from working in a writing center is surprisingly common...) Obviously journals all have their preferred format, but for a writing sample I really don't think it matters as long as you cite things correctly according to some recognized system. Thanks4Downvoting
I think it really depends who you're working with. I've been asked to use Chicago and APA more oft than not.
NervousNellie
Okay, I am looking now in the graduate journal of Harvard Divinity School, and I see citations in this format, if I am reading them correctly: Number Author, title in italics, ed. editor name or trans. translator name (Publication city : Publisher, year), page # Which format is that? Thanks4Downvoting
Looks like Chicago to me. Thanks4Downvoting
