TN_Bella
I'm applying to UT -Austin. The application is due January 15th. I submitted my application to the graduate school on December 23rd. The graduate school status check still says "your application is now under review. We will notify you of any changes in status". Will this delay my application from being passed on before the Jan. 15th deadline? Did I mess up somewhere? I didn't even think about the fact that it would have to be processed through the graduate school before the department ever sees it.
haltheincandescent
I'm pretty sure "under review" means that the materials have been passed on to and are being reviewed by the department. You probably won't see any changes to the status until they update it to reflect their final admissions decision. But, anyway, as long as you have all your stuff in before the deadline, you're fine. MarineBluePsy
It means that the graduate college is reviewing your materials to make sure you are eligible to apply and nothing is missing. They may or may not send you an email saying your materials have been forwarded to the department you applied to, but the status will still be "under review." Half my applications told me when my materials were forwarded to the department and the other half didn't, regardless "under review" is still accurate. If you're really concerned you could contact the graduate college when they re-open after the holidays to confirm they have everything they need. Texan_Air
I applied to UT-Austin last fall and I am sure their application system is probably the same now. Your application is going to stay in "under review" for a long time and pretty much only means everything is ready for them to look at your application. UT-Austin has a good internet application system that shows checks when they got each document. They will send you an email when your application has changed from "under review". For my aerospace engineering application I didn't hear anything back from them till late April. So as long as you turned in everything then you have nothing to worry about except the worrying. Goodluck.
J.Li
"Under Review" is the last status before you get admission or rejection or waiting list. Edited January 1, 2016 by J.Li
