Personal statement requirements

Hi everyone,

Just had a quick question about personal statement requirements. One of the schools I am applying to requires my personal statement to be 1 page, single space. It does not specify margin size. In your opinion, does this mean that I am free to explore different margin sizes? (My personal statement fits perfectly on 1 page after tweaking with the margins)

I'd say ideally, normal 1" margins are implied. But if it fits from unnoticeably  tweaking the margins slightly, no biggie

margins should be standard. theyre gonna see if you change them, they read hundreds of them

I tweaked margins slightly on an SOP that I sent to one of my references (a CSD prof) to review, and she immediately noticed they were not the standard one inch. I know shortening an SOP is awful, but it is probably necessary. Good luck!
