Yes it has been really late this year compared to previous years!! But I received an e-mail informing me of getting admitted like an hour ago (I am so ecstatic right now!) Also looking at the Gradcafe survey, I am not the only one!

Congrats localfdr! I didn't apply for the biostatistics department---I applied for the statistics department. the result should be coming out today, but there's nothing on the results search.

I heard from them 3 hours ago. First acceptance, super excited.

The results page is a little weird. Although I posted it on 1/15, the submitted result has time-stamp 1/16. Wonder what time-zone gradcafe is in. Anyway, that might explain why the results are not showing.

Thank you!! Indeed I applied to biostats and not stats. Good luck with your results!

congrats brewing16! Just to make sure, are you refering to the stats department or the biostats program?

I was refering to the biostats program.

@brewing16 a stupid question: I received an official admission letter but when I log into the application website, the status of my application is still "submitted" rather than "accepted" or "admitted". Is it the same for you?

Congrats guys! Did anyone who applied to the masters biostats program receive his/her admission decision?

If it helps ease your mind, I haven't heard anything from the masters program either! :(

Still have not heard from the UW statistics department yet... Rejections were even sent out around this time last year..

Has anyone heard from them until this point?

Also waiting to hear back from the UW Statistics Department. Going based off the fact that Biostats acceptances came out a week later than usual this year, I am hoping they are just late, but it is slightly unnerving. But, you are not alone.

I applied to both UW Stats and Biostats. I got an offer letter (i.e. accepted) from Biostats on January 16th, have been anxiously awaiting a response from Stats since then, since I realized you can do all of the same research as in Biostats but have a more theoretical focus (which I like)

My thinking was: the deadline for stats was two weeks later than for biostats, so the stats results might come out no later than the 29th (yesterday). Also comparing to other UW Seattle departments that released decisions yesterday (according to GradCafe), most of them also had deadlines of December 15th, like Stats (the exception being Applied Math, but they also began reviewing earlier while simultaneously having a later deadline)

Finally, Stat results came out by the 26th last year (at least again according to the GradCafe), so all of these factors had suggested to me that we would hear back from UW Stats by yesterday.

Has anyone else e-mailed the Stat department about when they might release decisions? (It says to do so on the UW admissions website if no timeline is given on the application status page.) What have you heard?

Now I'm worrying that the Stat admissions committee will think I'm obnoxious and reject me out of spite.

At least I haven't heard anything. It's pretty weird that the results come out pretty late this year. Did you call them or email them?

I sent them an e-mail Saturday morning, which in hindsight was a dumb time to send an e-mail, but I had barely slept all night thinking about it.

I have been pretty nervous about the result too. Will probably call them tomorrow.

Note that the dept. of statistics at UW is also conducting a faculty search, which could be tying their hands.

You are probably right. Faculty search should come first for those departments.

The response to the e-mail I sent:

Thank you for your inquiry.

The notifications are in the process of being prepared and will be sent out soon.

We appreciate your patience.

Also I'm really going to regret having done this after I get my rejection letter. Oh well

Inquiring has ZERO (I repeat, ZERO) impact on the admissions decision, for two reasons:

1) Asking when decisions will be sent out is a COMPLETELY REASONABLE thing to ask, especially when a program is lagging behind its usual timeline and other peer schools have already sent out acceptances.  Obviously you can go overboard by emailing (say) every few days for several weeks, but politely inquiring once is totally fine.

2) Typically, the personal handling correspondence with students is an administrator who has no role in making admissions decisions. Even if they think you're an obnoxious pest (and for reason #1 this is unlikely), this opinion won't make it to the committee of faculty members (and possibly a student or two) reviewing applications.

Yeah I'm also still waiting to hear back, fml...

Looking at the admissions results, it doesn't seem like anything has come out today (the 3rd), although one person was rejected on the 2nd, everything else seems to have happened on the 1st.

@cyberwulf Thank you for that; it is a relief to know, haha
