Does anyone know what the chances of getting the scholarship are after being named an alternate? And when they usually notify people by? I haven't seen anything about it on the website.

Fellowship announcements are out. It's not the news I wanted, but at least I got a tip of the hat- ALTERNATE. Maybe next year...

Well, was notified an hour ago that I am out of the running for the SAFLI Boren. I'm disappointed, sure, but I knew it was a long shot so I am not crushed.

What  I want to figure out though is how many SAFLI people also  applied for the CLS, so I can estimate  if that might reshuffle a bit now that Boren results are out .

Congrats to those that got the award.

I, unfortunately, did not get the Boren Scholarship for Morocco to learn Arabic.

I'm heartbroken, but it was a learning experience and now I know what I need to do to apply again.

I'm remaining positive as I still get to go to Morocco to study abroad regardless, just only for a semester now.

I applied for SAFLI and CLS. Didn't get CLS; did get SAFLI.  Who knows how these things get decided.

It's worth mentioning that Boren sent me not one, but THREE rejection emails this afternoon, so they definitely got their point across

@notgettinganythingohwell Wow, that's interesting. I didn't get the Fulbright or the Boren, I did get SASLI FLAS two years running, and this year

I am also a  CLS alternate. I would have guessed anyone who got a Boren SAFLI would be competitive across the board.
