mapiau
In addition to SAIS, I applied to American SIS (Global Governance), Georgetown SFS (MSFS), Syracuse Maxwell (MAIR, a combination of a MPA and IR degree), Tufts Fletcher (MALD), and UCSD GPS (MIA). SAIS is definitely a good fit for my goals, but I'm trying not to think about ranking schools until I know more about my funding situation. coffeeandtravel

Yeah I have resisted making a mental list until I hear from all the schools and about funding offers
monocle
SAIS is usually a little more generous than SIPA right? While I don't want to presume I'll be accepted, I'm probably choosing between the two. SAIS has a slight edge for me because of the language flexibility.. I'm already fluent in two languages, but I'd like to consider learning a third or becoming more academic in my second language. Although, I wish SAIS had more access to JHU's full campus facilities. And I like New York City more than I like DC. Does anyone have any information about working for the World Bank afterwards? It's not my top choice, but I think it might be interesting work and I know SAIS has a reputation for being a good feeder to the WB. But how many of the students getting those jobs/consultancies are int'l versus American? I've heard it's much more difficult being American. Would it help if I have dual citizenship with a developing country?

Well it looks like 12% of last year's class went on to employment with multilateral organizations (including the World Bank), but I'm not sure how easy/difficult it would be. I would imagine that having dual citizenship would be a bonus for many employers, but couldn't say for sure

I currently work at the Bank and I will say that the Bank favors international experience...whether it is an American with that experience or a foreign national is a secondary point. I will say that the Bank, like many other companies/organizations, is conscious of the need for more gender balance and minority representation--in particular those from South Saharan Africa. However, I wouldn't go so far to say that you would be disadvantaged being American. Also, most people start as Short Term Consultants and the recent State Department policy changes have made it more difficult for international applicants so I would imagine that the number of Americans at the Bank may increase. Thanks for commenting! That's nice to hear from a Bank employee. And yeah, I kind of figured if that was the route I chose, I'd need to be a short-term consultant to start (it looks like that's how SAIS grads do it, too based on their employment page). 7 minutes ago, coffeeandtravel said: One day left, people! mapiau
Looking at past threads, it look like people started getting emails at about late morning on Friday. Funding letters come later the same day, I believe.

coffeeandtravel
So there's a post on the "results" page with an acceptance yesterday (March 9). Can anyone claim it?
monocle
Not mine. Seems quite strange that there wouldnt be an uproar on this page. Maybe it was someone trying to will it to be true. Or maybe someone from EN that forgot to post and filled in the incorrect date of acceptance. My workday is over here in Asia... It's the 11th here and I've been stressing all day. I hope we hear before I go to bed.

I must have checked my e-mail two hundred times today, each time knowing that it couldn't possibly be there yet... monocle

hedong123
When I applied in 2014 they released the decision at 2pm eastern standard time. I guess they do it towards the end of the day because they know people will start calling with questions. The fellowship info email cane at 5pm

Colocho
Emails are out! I'm in at SAIS Europe! No news on financial aid however. Hopefully we'll hear more this afternoon. ennkay
I'm in as well at SAIS Europe, and I also have no news on funding. Waiting for that as well, but don't have too high of hopes on that front...

Here's hoping that we both receive good news in a couple of weeks! Applied for the MA, and will be attending open house in DC on April 6-7th. Hope to see some of you there!
