Hmm well that's also the date that GW requires a deposit. I kind of figured that I just didn't get it (as I haven't heard anything). Maybe they've already offered it to a few people and are waiting to see if they turn it down.

@mouraq I didn't apply to either of those places but I'm into similar schools...something that I've done that has helped me is to look at courses offered and kind of map out your schedule for your two years. It obviously isn't going to be drastically different between the schools, but if there are a lot of courses offered at UCSD that interest you, then that's something to think about. Personally, it would be really hard for me to turn down a full ride somewhere (especially if you get to live in San Diego!), but you may also want to reach out to recent grads (via LinkedIn or by requesting the info from admissions) about their lives and jobs post-graduation. I'm in a similar position with two schools right now so I understand the conundrum

Cool! Well, good luck with your decision! I don't know much about CEU or PP schools in general, but Budapest is a great city. If I were you, I'd reach out to former students to see how they have fared after graduating and if they felt that the program was well-regarded in terms of securing jobs, networking, etc. It would be hard to turn down a full tuition fellowship!

Out of curiosity, why did you choose to apply to public policy schools instead of IR programs that specialize in development (e.g. SAIS, MSFS, etc)?

No problem! Chicago is a great city, too! The food and summer weather make up for the awful, awful winters.

Hi all! I am considering attending the University of Denver this fall and am wondering about good places to live in the city. I know that a lot of people live close to the university but I'm not sure whether or not that is for me. I'd like to be somewhere not too far from school (or close to the light rail) but where I can also walk to dining, shopping, grocery stores, etc. that's also safe and maybe in a neighborhood with mature trees or parks. I'm not really interested in living in a suburb, either. I will probably have a car but do not want to have to rely on driving everywhere. Any suggestions from people have lived there or are going to be moving there?

Has anyone ever asked for more money from the school that offered you the most funding of all? I'd like to ask about additional funding from one school but I don't have any offers that top it in terms of actual dollar amount. I also don't want to come off as ungrateful or disingenuous. On the reverse side of that, what about leveraging an offer from a lower ranked school to land more money at a higher ranked school? I would be happy attending any of the schools I applied to but for me money is one of the major deciding factors.

I did not attend or apply for CIR but I know someone who did and she told me that it definitely is more theoretical than other programs. As far as I know, there are not even any requirements for practical-based skills or anything (again, this is second hand information). As far as job prospects, she had an internship that turned into a job in Chicago but I'm not sure about how those translate to NYC or DC. Again, sorry if it's not very helpful, but I just wanted to let you know that I had secondhand experience with CIR and that from what I can tell, the students and curriculum sound right up your alley.

@Lolothefirecat although I don't know when the timeline is for admitted students to hear back about more potential money...I would ask admissions how long after that April 20 date it will take for them to decide on money allocation!

I totally agree with this...I think it's really important to do your research before applying and make sure that classes, culture, and program requirements align with what you want. It's also hard to call any grad school a "safety" but I think it's important to find a school that you'd be happy attending that aligns with your goals/interests and that fits your GRE/GPA/WE profile, if that makes sense.

Thanks for the info! My question is...if it is in fact cut from the budget, who is getting grandfathered into the system? Is it people who are IN school and planning on taking advantage or just those have already started with the program? I'm not sure why they make information on this topic so difficult to find

I'm going to operate under the assumption that I didn't get it and if I do then that will certainly change things. I think if I don't get it, GW is officially off my list of contenders.

I'm also very interested in this program, but I'm hesitant to assume that it's the answer to my worries with loans, if that makes sense. I would love to hear from someone who has utilized the program or who knows of someone who has for nonprofit work (I'm not really interested right now in government work). I'd also be interested in the rate of people who don't complete the 10 years in such a position...do they have to pay back all of their loans, or is it prorated for the years of work in one of those fields that qualify? I also read that the future of the program is uncertain so I'm trying to learn more before deciding it would work for me
