  1. I was kind of expecting a waitlist, as I don't have as much work experience in my selected field of study (the average is 4+ years). I'm not super disappointed but I'll stay on the waitlist to see how it plays out. Better than being rejected I guess. Anyone know how many people on average are taken off the waitlist each year? I'm sure it varies.
  2. Decisions are up. I was waitlisted...oh well!
  3. I applied! I think we hear back early April but I'm not 100% sure
  4. I got another non-funding email, too
  5. Haha that's kind of how I feel...I would really love to go to SAIS but also didn't get IDEV or much funding. Logically I should go with Korbel. Still waiting on MSFS and funding from Elliott so we'll see. I'd like to make a decision by this weekend but knowing me I'll probably wait till the very last day.
  6. Where is Elliott on your list compared to the other schools you've been admitted?
  7. Ahh I feel ya...I just want to have all my options on the table so I can finally decide!
  8. Totally...I wasn't trying to rag on GW, I just imagined that they had a higher acceptance rate (but obviously I was misinformed about Georgetown so I'm not pretending to be an expert haha)! My point was that it's pretty difficult to get funding ANYWHERE at all, so those who do should be pretty pumped. All in all, it seems like admissions and, to more of an extent, funding decisions, are pretty subjective, unlike some other masters and professional programs that rely solely on hard data and test scores. So I'm just going to sit here putting positive vibes out into the universe so that all of us on Gradcafe get oodles of funding for GW
  9. Thanks, Pichichi...that makes me feel better about my chances at MSFS haha!
  10. In related news, I've gotten TWO emails from GW today that set me into a frenzy thinking that they contained funding information...no dice.
  11. I totally agree. There's the initial excitement of being accepted somewhere and then the funding offer (or lack thereof) comes and an overwhelming panic sets in. I have about 50% off tuition at one of the schools I applied to and I still don't know how I'm going to make it work.
  12. That doesn't sound strange at all...it's definitely harder depending on where someone is applying. At GW, I would imagine they have a fairly high acceptance rate. If they let in 40% (rough estimate) of the people who apply, the majority of those people are not going to get funding. Now, if we're talking MSFS, I think getting in (acceptance rate of like 20% I think) is more difficult than funding, as I believe they give about 1/3 of incoming students money
  13. Mine says submitted, but it also has a date that it was completed (in January)...not sure if that helps or not. I'd assume they just don't have a status that lets people know when it's being reviewed
  14. They couldn't tell you anything about where your application was in the process? How strange...
  15. So, has anyone heard about when we'll find out about funding?
  16. Does anyone know if there's a redistribution of aid after the deposit date? As in, when people decline their offers, does their money ever get redirected to students who did not receive as much funding?
  17. Are you MA with the first year in Bologna? That's what I am and I found out but the email was sent to my secondary account and one was in my spam folder
  18. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Do you have any idea how many people are offered funding second year (who may not have gotten much first year)? Is it possible to get more second year? Also, what are your impressions of the Latin American studies concentration?
  19. I'm going to try to go!
  20. Anyone thinking about going to the open house on April 6?
  21. Not to sound prick-ish, but I'm a bit upset that I didn't get at least a little in the way of funding from SAIS. Le sigh
  22. Yeah I agree that it's overpriced. I only got $20k, but I think with the lesser price of living I could maybe make it work. I would plan on working part time to offset the costs, which would be easier there than trying to work in DC while attending SAIS or MSFS (if I get in) because I think that academically it will be at least a little less challenging. The other option is GW but honestly I don't really love the idea of having night classes and we haven't heard back about funding yet
