Stanford MS Statistics

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow applicants, anyone heard from Stanford about decisions for their MS Stats program? The PhD rejections were posted in early February--on last year's timeline the MS acceptances came 4 weeks later so I suppose it's a few days late this year, but just wanted to see if maybe someone's heard back without posting the results yet.

I got a generic email congratulating on admission. It said that an official letter would come from the dept. Is that physical mail? Because I haven't received any email from the department itself. While I'm sure it is correct, I'd feel more comfortable in the acceptance if I had the details of the official letter.

Don't mean to be rude but:

  1. I don't think any of us would have that answer -- not sure why you would think we have any more information than you.
  2. The first email JUST came and they explicitly indicated the department email would come (not that you should have received it already).

Congratulations. Hopefully see you this year :)

Very fair. I just wanted to clarify that my email specifically said "Your formal offer was sent to you" by the department itself. Either that means it is sent by email (in which case, I should have received it by now, and I figured someone on here would say "Yup, I received an email from the department!", and I'd know that something was amiss). Or, no one else has recevied a letter, and it is either a physical letter or just not sent yet. not a terribly important question, but I did have reason to ask.

I received the general email earlier this morning as well, although I haven't heard anything since. I'm excited (and a little bit nervous) - I'll feel a hell of a lot more relaxed if an official letter/email comes.

No e-mail. With 3 confirmed acceptances and people saying it's a "generic email" I'd imagine no e-mail means a rejection (or waitlist at best). :( Congratulations to those who were accepted.

Me too.... womp womp.

Congrats to those who got in!

maybe there is still hope for those of us who have not heard anything yet? (if all decisions were made, why would they hold rejections?)

That's optimistic :P Historically very few (if any) acceptances are posted outside of the 1-2 day timeframe of the other acceptances. But hey, we can dream.

Has anyone heard back from the data science track? I only saw a few acceptances for the normal stats track. I also saw some acceptances for the data science track on the ICME side. Wasn't sure if the stats-data science track came out around the same time as either of these.
