Ilikekitties Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Okay, so I got into a MA anthropology program with 25% of tuition covered by the program. It's located in NYC, so Idk if this is the best financial decision....thoughts?
Villain Elle Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) NYC is so incredibly expensive. Consider that you will have to fund the program plus a NYC lifestyle. (Take a look at NYC apartments online and you will see what I mean.) NYC offers a lot in terms of opportunity, but even people with fully funded offers struggle to make ends meet there. I wouldn't do it myself. Edited March 10, 2016 by Villain Elle
Ilikekitties Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 ^yes, I'm hesitant to make any decisions yet.
Ilikekitties Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 I'd be open to also living outside of "The Village" if it meant less in loans.
rising_star Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 You should probably be open to living outside NYC, if you really want to take out less in loans. I wouldn't do an unfunded MA, especially not in NYC. Between tuition and living expenses, you're looking at at least $40K/year in debt.
