A forum to connect with students who intend to go to CU Boulder in Fall 2016.

I am an international student and will be joining the graduate program in MCD biology during Fall 2016.

Congrats on your acceptance! I just accepted my offer to the IQ Biology program at CU! I'm also international -- from Canada. 

Have you started looking into housing options yet? It seems like it's going to be a challenge to find something reasonably priced in Boulder.

@clvde congratulations on your acceptance. I haven't started looking for housing. But yes it's a challenge. Still I will start after a few weeks.

It's pretty weird that very few people would be joining University of Colorado Boulder in Fall 2016. Any new admits or people who are already attending CU-Boulder can post here so that we could discuss housing and other stuff.

@Ish3988 I'm considering an offer from a PI jointly appointed to MCDB and Behavioral Neuro. I live between Denver and Boulder though, so less of a housing problem. If you have any questions about things around here, let me know.

I will be moving in august and was searching for some apartments. The graduate housing seems to be decent for a first-year international student since I don't really know anything about the city. Do you have any reviews about Bear Creek Apartments?

Basically dorms, I've only driven by them, never been inside. Bout half an hour walk to campus on foot. Where will you be moving from?

I am from China. I accepted my offer three days ago and looking for housing options. i wonder if there is a better way for newly admitted graduates to discuss things. For example, I and other friends going to boulder are using group chat in Wechat.

there isn't any facebook page made for graduate admits. However i found one page for undergraduate admits. 

If anyone else has any other option in mind regarding connecting on social platforms the do share

I'd imagine cohorts would form their own social media pages after they've met during orientation or something, but I could be wrong.  What is your discipline?

Yeah I found my cohorts. My department gave me that information. My discipline is MCDB.

I'll be starting up this fall as a PhD student in Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences. I lived in Boulder last summer to work at a gov't lab, so I have some insight but not a ton! 

@Ish3988 - I lived in Bear Creek last summer. Bear Creek isn't bad at all, but isn't too special. It's pretty close to campus, has good WiFi/laundry/parking, etc. It's a little pricy (but so is everything in Boulder), but I really don't have any complaints about the place. I think the smallest setup you can get is 2-bedroom, so no option really to live alone. 

For your situation, I could see it working out well. It's furnished, you'd get your own private room and share a bathroom with one person, have a full kitchen and living room with great views of the mountains. I think there's plenty of better options for living in town, but if you're searching from India it might be a little tough. You can't go wrong with Bear Creek for year 1, and could take that time in person to find other options.
