Limon Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I'm caught between 3 different acceptances, so I would really appreciate any advice or input on any of these 3 programs! 1. Villanova- English MA with a certificate in Gender and Women's Studies. There is a possibility for a fully funded assistantship which I will know about soon, but for decision purposes, let's pretend like I already have it (because my decision may be easier if I don't). 2. NYU- Draper Interdisciplinary program. I would still be able to study literary cultures and gender politics within this program, and it comes with a 30% scholarship. 3. University College London- Gender, Society, and Representation MA. This would be the same yearly cost as NYU, but it's a 1 year program, making it half the total cost. Obviously, #2 and #3 would be very costly, but as of now I would most likely independently finance most of it and take on only some some student loans. Villanova would be much less costly in every sense- tuition, cost of living, etc. I know to some it may seem ridiculous to even consider turning down a fully funded program, but let's assume the idea of returning back to Pennsylvania and rejecting a big name school is what's leading me to at least ask for input. Anything helps!

Anything helps! My understanding is that Villanova already made its funding offers. Everyone else has been waitlisted (myself included). Those I know who have been waitlisted (2 others) have all been told that they are on the top of the waitlist, which is what I was told as well. Have you heard something different? Villanova is a good program depending upon your purposes. Their placement record into PhD programs is poor, but the program is known for preparing students for secondary education as well as professional work that pertains to communications. Obviously, NYU and UCL have phenomenal programs in their own right.
