From what I can see, nobody has started a thread yet for those of us applying for counseling programs yet. So here's one now! Has anyone decided on a program yet? Any interviews? Acceptances and/or declines? I have applied to three schools for their Clinical Mental Health Counseling ed programs.

I applied for the Professional Counseling program only one place, my dream school: Southeastern University. I interviewed last Monday, and I received a call on Friday that I was accepted. :D Still waiting on the official notification. It feels unreal.

Where have you applied OP? How has the process been for you? Any replies yet?

Hello!  =) new to this forum!!

We seem to be left in the dust, usually... haha.

Anyways, I am in the process of applying to three: University of North Texas, SMU-in-Plano, and Texas A&M at Commerce. I am still waiting on one recommendation form for SMU, have to write the essay for TAMU Commerce, and I have submitted everything for UNT. I got invited to an interview yesterday for UNT!! =) Each of the three schools have group interviews.

Congrats, FutureLMHC! where all did you apply? what about you, OP?

I just joined and I'm applying to SUNY New Paltz.  I have my interview tomorrow, and I'm nervous about it!

Thanks!  It was an individual interview, via phone.  Someone was paying attention, because they hooked me up with a professor who teaches and works in trauma response, which is exactly what I indicated in my essay that I was interested in.  I think it went well, but haven't heard back yet.  Today's my birthday, so that would be a nice present! I was emailed for the interview on Sunday, and had it on Monday, which seems quick.  Hopefully that's a good sign?  Good luck on yours for UNT!

Hi guys! I'm trying to make a decision for a School Counseling program. Ultimately I am trying to decide between Rider University and Villanova University. Has anyone also applied to these schools or have some insight about them that I might not have? I am thinking about posting on the Decisions thread with the pros/cons to work towards figuring it out. I live in PA and want to keep my options open for getting certified in both PA and NJ, but I realize that I can't practice in NJ unless I live there. Rider is a much closer commute for me than Villanova but it seems easier to get the LPC license at Villanova..?

I don't live in your area at all haha but...I think it's important to see which school is most in line with your values and interests and what resonates with you more. have you had interviews? Each of my three schools have group interviews, so even though I feel pretty certain I'll end up at UNT, I think I am going to go to all three group interviews (assuming i'm invited to all 3.. haha) to see what students I connect with more. Personally, so far, I feel the most welcome at UNT based on my interactions with the admissions committee. I think it's also important to consider specialization areas and what each school has to offer. I get so confused with the licensure and all of that, tbh. :/  As far as pros/cons, I think you have to see which aspects have the most value for you. Have you spoken with other current students at each school?  What are the pros/cons you've listed of each??? Good luck with the decision. I hope this helps somewhat.

Hi! Is anyone here is a grad student attending Texas A&M College Station Fall 2016? Or do you know someone who is / will be a grad student? I am an international student. I will be attending TAMU grad school this Fall and I really do not know where to seek for alumni or friends. :(

Ahhh I am just now seeing these posts! Lots of exciting news. I've been accepted to UNLV, Cal State Fullerton, Sonoma State, and Bradley University. I currently live in central Illinois, and I will be moving across country to the west coast probably! I'm stuck deciding between CSUF and UNLV...a good thing I guess!
