UMass, Amherst Fall 2016

Hi everyone,

I couldn't find the UMass, Amherst thread so I thought I would start one :-) I will join the CS Ph.D. program this fall and I'm very excited about it. Have any of you had a academic advisor yet? And how is life there? Should I choose the dorm or off campus?

Nice to see this. Clinical Psych PhD here. Been looking for a lot places through Craigslist. Seems like a lot more is opening up now that the semester is almost over.

potential Master's student (still deciding). Anyone know what the deal is with on-campus housing (e.g. Lincoln Apartments)? Seems like mixed messages about whether it is possible to secure a spot or not, if you are not applying for family housing.

Hi, I just decided for Masters of CS there. Nice to meet all of you. I am wondering whether i should email some POIs for finding and advisor to work with or wait until I get there. 

about the housing, I have heard many students live in Sunderland apartments, near Amherst. good place but not in the city

The emails are coming  I think there will be an email about advisor matching very soon.
