readeatsleep Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 hey all; i'm a political science/philosophy student applying to political theory programs this year. i would like to be in a department at a school with a sociology department that has someone working on network theory, in the vain of deleuze and, more recently, luc boltanksi. this is pretty radical french theory, and i dont know very much about its reception in american sociology departments. it may invovle 'social network theory,' communicative action/habermas, or references to 'nodes' and 'networks' to a certain extent. hope someone can educate me! thanks -m
hip2btriangle Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 not sure about that particular branch of network theory, but check our UC-Irvine; i hear they have a strong department for networks.
captiv8ed Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I have been told that Duke has a strong social networks program
keylimekai Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) you might look into history of science/(sociology of) science and technology studies programs if you're into the work of Latour, Law, Hetherington, etc. on actor-network theory. On a whole though, both networks and Deleuze more generally are really popular in many disciplines and departments right now. Edited December 2, 2009 by keylimekai
