Okay, so I knew waiting on the waitlist was awful, but here it is May 13, and while searching endlessly online for how long people wait to get off the damn waitlist I see comments from people saying they've been "waiting a long time but they finally got off the waitlist", being posted in March or April. It's May. The middle of May. I was told February 19th I was on the waitlist, on April 20th I was asked if I was still interested in which I responded "yes!". I knew professors would be busy, it is finals time. But the school's final grades were due on Monday the 9th, and commencement was last weekend. And it's a small program of like 10 students with 3 open slots. I am losing my mind and really feel as though I am never going to know. I don't know if I should send an email and seem like I'm impatient and hurt my chances.

Has anyone experienced this? Has anyone been accepted off a waitlist this late in the game?

My boss' husband got off a philosophy waitlist for a funded position one week before classes started.

It definitely happens, but who knows how often.

Still Haven't Heard from California State University Long Beach (CSULB). I applied to their master of psychology research degree in February, was interviewed in March and I was told they have not made any decisions....... This is Crazy! my number 1 school would be the last school to tell me if I am in or not. I want to go there so bad! Hopefully by June 1st, they will let me know what is happening.....Hopefully.

The deadline for my program to apply was Jan 1st, so I really hope I don't have to wait much longer! I hope you hear soon as well, waiting is agonizing.

If you haven't heard anything since April 20th, I don't think there is a problem with reaching out to see where you stand.

I sent an email! I do agree it shouldn't be a problem reaching out, I have been patiently waiting without nagging, and I deserve to know something by now. Whether it's a rejection, or even that they're still deciding.

I'm in a similar spot, but I was wait-listed on April 1st and told to contact professors regarding funding. I did that and spoke with a few. The one I'm most interested in working with then sent an email three weeks ago saying he was working on making decisions that weekend. Haven't heard from him since, and I sent a follow up email last week.

That's awful. I hate when a time frame that was given is exceeded and each day that passes it, the worse you feel. I hope you hear soon.
